Environmentally aware of the impact of fossil fuel in cycling.

Often, I hear the argument, "But, what about the oil that you put on your bike chain?" when talking about how riding bikes for transportation is an act of climate action. We must reduce car trips to meet our climate goals. Transportation is the highest emitting sector for greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. As a car-free bike Dad, I love being able to say that I do NOT use bike chain lube that is hydrocarbon based. Thanks for that tool in my climate action belt!

Eco-friendly chain lube

I feel better about using a plant-based product. I have not noticed any difference in performance over traditional lubricants.

Love the plant based lube!

It just works and is planet friendly!

Biodegradable and Great Bike Lube

Works great and is biodegradable. This is soy based versus petroleum. Reducing petroleum pollution - what if every bicyclist and bike shop used biodegradable lube?

It works and it works well

Great lube! Works well in a variety of conditions. Held up well in dry, dusty environments without gunking up too much. Also works well on wet rides and doesn't manage to all wash off during the rain. Further, my bike was on my roof rack during a rainstorm and even at highway speeds there was still some lube left when I checked on it later. Good stuff.

Great lube for mountain biking in dry conditions

I live in the desert, and I mountain bike in very dry and sometimes wet environments, so I need my lube to handle these extremes. I have yet to test the lube in the mud, since I've only begun using it this summer, but I'm very happy with the lube so far and how it's held up in dry, sandy conditions! I found the lube easy to apply, having the right viscosity, and being neither too runny nor too thick. This compares favorably to a "dry" lube I had been using, which ironically was too liquidy and made a mess when applying. The pedaling and shifting has been smooth, and continues to be after a few rides and several hours on the bike. The chain continues to look clean, without collecting much of the desert sand. And as an added bonus, I like that the lube is plant-based and not petroleum-based. Better for the environment!

The lube is good, but doesn't shed like I thought it would in varied weather. Yet when wiped down dirt came off and chain maintained smoothness, but I found that one needs to clean chainrings and jockey wheels as it builds up after one varied weather ride.

Good, all-around lube

The mountainFlow plant-based bike lube performed similarly to good-quality wax-based lube in the dry, summer conditions I've been using it. It lasts for several rides of several hours each, and there was not much gunk build-up when riding in dry dirt. I've used this lube for the past month on both my daily commuter and my mountain bike, and I have no complaints. Application is easy, and the resulting shifting is smooth and quiet. Four stars only because I have yet to test this lube in wet conditions, so I can not confirm the "all-weather" aspect of the lube.

Go with the flow

I carry the bike lube with me wherever I ride and love that I can use it outside without concern about dripping some in the grass. It's super easy to use with the twist top and my bike chain seems to flow smoothly! Woo-Hoo!

Good product, plus plant-based!

I'm no expert when it comes to bike lube but this seemed to work just fine, no noticeable differences in feeling/shifting than my usual lube. I will admit that my chain is in rough shape as I haven't been riding very often lately, but after a half-hearted cleaning and application of this lube it was looking a thousand times better. I haven't gotten the chance to test it in various conditions but shifting felt smooth on a few short rides. It is very liquidy though, I made a bit of a mess applying it and it took several wipe-downs to get all the excess off.

Rode some gravel with Mountain Flow bike lube!

I tried Mountain Flow plant-based bike lube on my gravel bike. First, I cleaned my chain really well then applied the bike lube, and wiped off excess. I rode on gravel and also on the road in both dry, dusty conditions and wet, rainy conditions. I was really impressed with how smooth my shifting and ride felt! The plant-based bike lube definitely stands up to wax or petroleum based lube, & its being better for the environment is a definite plus! Im impressed that this lube is also Certified B Corporation and made in Colorado.

Great plant-based lube for dusty, dirty conditions

I live and mountain bike in "moon dusty" Central Oregon. This time of year our trails are almost impossible to ride on due to the sometimes foot-thick pools of powdery dirt that can wreak havoc on drivetrains. After a 25 mile ride last weekend, the drive train is still super quiet and didn't attract the moon dust or cinder grit I normally see after using other lubes. Mountain Flow Lube goes on transparent, is odorless and dries clean and clear. I really appreciated the twist cap and applicator tip as it means I don't have to keep track of a fiddly cap. I generally prefer plant based products when I can avoid petroleum products so that's an added bonus, too.

Good for the planet and your bike!!

Love, love, love that this is plant not petroleum based. That makes this product mighty. It has no odor and the viscosity is good - no drips! Well done MountainFlow. Will need to assess how well it holds up but so far, it is excellent.

Good Bike Lube

I ride a lot and have used a wax based lube on my chain for years. I have been happy with my old lube but not thrilled with the smells and toxic chemicals that the wax was in. So I was thrilled to find mountainFLOW eco-wax Plant-Based Bike Lube. It seemed like a great replacement. My experience with the mountainFLOW lube has been great. I relube my chain every 100 miles or about once a week and have found it simple to use it has done a great job of keeping my drivetrain rolling smoothly over the month Ive been using it. Im also glad to use a plant based product vs a petroleum based lube.

Super impressed!

This stuff is great! I was keen to move to a more eco product and this seems to be it. I've been using it on my MTB for the past couple weeks and definitely works just as good as my old stuff. The rides have been through mixed conditions - stream crossings down low and dry up high and this lube does it all.

Best Eco-Lube

Super impressed with this chain lube; I've used this lube alongside quite a few eco-lubes, and this performs better than the rest by far. I live in a dry, high-altitude climate with varying weather conditions, and I appreciate how versatile this lube is for performing well in both wet/snowy and dry conditions. No squeaky drivetrains!

Great lube

This bicycle lube works great for my bike. The viscosity is perfect for reducing dirt buildup and leaving a good lubricated chain. The price is a bit high for what you get though, I have used 1/3 of this bottle in just two uses. I like the size of the bottle as its easily transportable but the price of this small size is a bit too high.

Awesome product

If you're gonna use lube it might as well be earth friendly. Feels good to have a fast drivetrain and a clear conscious. Thanks MountainFLOW!

Great Product

I applied the lube and wiped off the excess. It was nice to have a product that does not have a poision and flamable symbol on it, a strong chemical smell, and that I have to wear gloves on to apply. The bike sat for several days before I went for a ride. When I went riding I immediately noticed how quite the chain was. The shifting was also smooth.
I went off road riding in dustier conditions than usual and the chain had about 10% of the dirt compared to the dry weather petroleum product I was using in less dusty conditions.

Works as Intended

I heard about this product from the bicycle tourist YouTuber Flyscout Ryder. One of the people he talked on the video makes this product and I purchased it because it's plant based and all conditions. So far out works as described.

Great for training rides

This lube works great for training and race rides on a road bike. It doesn't go on clear so it throws me off, but works excellent and doesn't leave excess amounts if done wrong.

Clean conscience product

This is my second container of mountainflow all weather lube. I’m a vegan and I feel better using this plant based product for my bicycle. Keeps my chain clean. Just remember to thoroughly wipe after applying.

Does the job

This lube seems to work just fine, although my chain seems a bit dirtier after riding when I use it - as if it collects more grit than the other chain lube I was using. But it does the job!

Plant Lube

Have only used a few times but seems good so far as tested in dry conditions. Love the concept. Look forward to seeing how it performs when the rains return.
